3 Unexpected Benefits of Scheduling through Facebook

3 Unexpected Benefits of Scheduling through Facebook

By now, a lot of people are aware of the power of using online scheduling for their service-based business – i.e.  Eliminate phone tag, reduce ‘no-shows’, create convenience for you clients, control your schedule from your smart phone, etc…  There are, however, 3 benefits of allowing your clients to schedule from your Facebook business page that are somewhat lesser known.  Thought I would share them here:
1.      Your clients always see your full list of services – If you’re still taking all your appointments over the phone, you’ll notice that your clients are always scheduling the same thing.  By allowing them to see your full list of services every time they book, they’ll see other services you offer.  This will lead to questions about those services and eventually that client will book those additional services.  It’s not unlike a restaurant menu scenario where those additional offerings will lead to additional appointments!!
2.      Fan feedback on how you’re booked out – when your fans/clients book through your Facebook business page, they’ll inevitably see that you’re already booked through next week.  They’ll then mention that on your page in hopes of getting in to see you before you have an opening.  As soon as your other clients/fans see that, they’ll begin scheduling further in advance than they ever have before.  This trend will continue until you’re booked out further than you could have ever imagined.  I’ve seen it happen multiple times.  Try it and see for yourself!
3.      Filling last minute openings – If you do find yourself with a last minute opening, you can easily announce it on your business page or create a Pop-Up Offer and post it.  The first interested client to see it and book it, gets it – even if you’re working, playing or sleeping! It’s a great way to keep your calendar full!
If you’re offering online scheduling from your Facebook business page, I would love to hear of any other benefits that you’ve noticed!  We love that feedback! Thank You!

The Power of Pop-Up Offers

As some of you may already know, we released Schedulicity’s new Pop-Up Offers at the DEMO Fall tech conference in Silicon Valley last week.  It received raved reviews from the audience as well as the ‘Consumer Gurus’ that followed our groups’ presentations. We even received a ‘DEMO God’ award for the presentation!! (Here’s the full video: )
The reason I’m so excited about this feature is only due, in part, to its ability to help small service-based business fill empty time slots before it’s too late.  The other important feature is the engagement it can create on your Facebook business page.
Let me explain…
By posting a discounted Pop-Up Offer from time to time on your Facebook business page, you can get more clients to ‘like’ your page and become more engaged with the content you’re posting.  It’s almost like the ‘Blue Light Specials’ from the old K-mart days (showing my age now).  People will keep an eye on your page just to be ready to grab one of your Pop-Up Offers when they become available.  Remember, these offers are much more about filling empty time slots and keeping your clients engaged than they are about discounting services.
I think you’ll be surprised at the secondary benefits you receive from creating these offers.  Try it and see for yourself!!

Time to Focus

Focus
As Director of New Media for Schedulicity, I’m always working on something, listening for something or responding to something.  Sometimes I feel as though I’m so ‘spread out’ that I’m not accomplishing certain goals that I’ve set for myself.  That’s when I remind myself that it’s time to FOCUS.  Here are 5 steps that help me be more focused and more productive.  Maybe they can be of use to you!

  1. Start first thing in the morning - I focus a lot better in the morning - just after that first cup of coffee (wonder why?)
  2. Make a ‘to-do’ list with drawn check-boxes - You read that correctly. Draw a check-box to the left of each thing you want to accomplish that day (learned that from Diana Galvan!).  For me, It has a tremendous mental effect of making those items feel as though they must absolutely get done.
  3. Shut off the multiple news boxes around you - Let one 12 hour news cycle run its course without you.  That may seem difficult but it’s actually very refreshing.  Don’t worry, there will be plenty of the same stuff going on the following day.
  4. Give yourself 60 minute periods without checking your email - I know, I know.  For a lot of you this may seem impossible but email can be the most distracting, derailing, energy zapping part of your day.  Try to leave it until it can receive its own focus!
  5. Take many ‘mini-breaks’ - When I hit a road block or my eyes get tired, I’ll sit back, close my eyes and count 20 deep breaths.  I love doing that.  It’s like an ultra short nap and a yoga practice rolled into one.  I dare you to try it.
Anyway, don’t know if you’ll find that helpful but I thought I would pass it along just the same.  Hope it helps!  All the best.
